How A Worship Song Lead Me to a Nine Month Mission Trip

There’s this song called “How to be Yours” by Chris Renzema, if you have time, please give it a listen before or after reading this.

The song begins:

“Say that you love me, don’t say that you love me, cause I don’t know how to be yours… even while you hold me as I cry on the floor, I still don’t know how to be yours.”

These lyrics confused me at first, but then I realized their meaning: Humans are so imperfect that we feel unworthy or afraid to be loved by God. This is a feeling I know all to well. Even through our imperfections and endless mistakes, God still holds us, and loves us the same. The song later continues on from God’s perspective saying:

“Love me or hate me, Im not going anywhere. Leave me or take me, you still bear my signature. Know me or not, seen or forgotten I’m not walking out on you.”

Even when we walk away from Him, God is always waiting with open arms, hoping we will come back. He loves us unconditionally, even when we have forgotten him. I cannot repay him for that. However, I can make decisions in an effort to spread His relentless love; that is why I have chosen to do the World Race Gap Year. Jesus has given me purpose, and love like no other. So in return, I will spend not only nine months, but the rest of my life spreading His love and light wherever he may take me.

I am so excited that I have been given this amazing opportunity to serve the Lord in such a unique way. If you feel that God is calling you to give, please donate, the link is above. Anything helps!! Thank you for taking the time to read this, I am excited to share more blog posts in the future!!
